The Horse Hunt:
“In the end, it comes down to how you feel on the horse.” These words have remained in my mind since the moment Louisa voiced them. As we began the search for a mount that was to be between six and nine years old, suited for a young rider, trained through Prix Saint George, mentally and physically sound, very safe and preferably a flamboyant mover, we soon realized that finding something that would harmoniously fit our criteria and stay within the realms of our budget was going to be a long and strenuous process. It was however the manner in which Louisa organized appointments, conducted business and communicated the abundance of information entailed with purchasing a horse (which was a concept completely foreign to both me and my parents) that portrayed how truly professional she is and made this process very enjoyable indeed. Through her direct and honest disposition she was the source whose advice we could reliably trust, judging every equine candidate with her undivided attention and focus. By the time we concluded our four-day-endeavors, for which Louisa had taken as much time out of her full schedule as needed, we had ridden and observed a grand total of ten horses. Out of this collection we finally selected and purchased Butters, the gelding who made (and continues to make) me smile the most and feel exceedingly confident.
